What does it take to move ahead in a career? What, beyond skills and previous work performance, indicates that someone is ready to take on the responsibilities and pressures of a new position? While there is no simple, clear-cut way to determine whose got that potential, there are certain attitudes, characteristics and behaviors that say a lot about how prepared someone is to tackle a career advancement - like initiative, confidence, coping skills and adaptability, just to name a few. Another element that plays a significant role is to understand what motivates someone and compels him or her to move forward. The Career Advancement Test measures whether John currently has these characteristics, as well as pinpointing his strengths and possible limitations.
The Career Advancement Test is a tool that can be used to gauge whether John is ready to accept more responsibilities and challenges. The results of this test are a great catalyst for opening up the lines of communication in the workplace. If it reveals that John is ready for change, consider approaching him to discuss the possibilities or make plans to advance his career in other ways (by taking courses, for example). The feedback from this test provides a guideline for both capitalizing on his strengths and taking steps to work on his limitations.
