Emotional Stability (score 38)

Emotional stability assesses overall emotional strength and the ability to withstand stress.

Sam reports experiencing a lot of ups and downs in his emotions. Sometimes, he needs time to himself, while other times he enjoys being in the company of others. Overall, he is likely a fairly outgoing person who occasionally opts for solitude. This allows him to strike the perfect balance, and makes him a versatile employee because he can work alone and as part of a group.

Open-mindedness measures the extent to which a person seeks out new experiences and is receptive to different views and people.

Trying new things is sometimes disconcerting for Sam, but constantly sticking to the status quo also feels stifling to him. He is generally a curious person who enjoys frequent excursions into the unknown. For the most part, Sam is open to new experiences, ideas, and opinions, and is not afraid to step outside his comfort zone. Stability is fine in some circumstances, but being spontaneous is much more his style.

There are situations where Sam is likely to come off as tactless or disagreeable. He may not always be fully conscious of what he says and does, and has probably regretted this in the past. This doesn't mean that he needs to censure everything he says and force himself to be nice to others, but if he makes it a point to use his empathy and observation skills, he will find himself less prone to disagreeable or insensitive social responses. Conscientiousness measures how organized, reliable and rule-abiding a person is.

Sam is generally reliable and disciplined person. Sometimes, he can be a little careless and disorganized, but this is more likely to be the case when he is stressed out or busy. Overall, he has a natural tendency towards being responsible and rule-abiding, and can be counted on to do his best when the situation calls for it, even occasionally going above and beyond the call of duty. Others can usually trust him to be responsible.

Impression Management (score 0)

Degree to which the test-taker responded in a socially desirable manner.

This scale assesses the degree to which results on this test are distorted or manipulated. Many people will try to present themselves in a better light, especially if the stakes are high.

Test-taker answers are compared to responses obtained from a large sample of the general population. When someone systematically selects socially desirable responses that are rarely endorsed by others, there is good reason to believe that a positive self-presentation bias is at play. A score that is suspiciously high may indicate that a person is lying, which may invalidate that whole test.
